Measure receipt-paper use without overstating impact

TerraGridTech helps businesses offer digital receipts as an alternative to unnecessary receipt-paper printing. The outcome depends on whether businesses actually reduce parallel paper printing and how the digital service is operated.

Our current approach

We focus first on quantities a retailer can observe: digital receipts created, confirmed paper prints avoided, receipt length, equivalent rolls and adoption rate.

We do not publish universal trees, water or carbon conversions. Digital services also use devices, networks and hosted infrastructure.

Sustainable Development Goals

How we describe our SDG relevance

Our strongest relevance is to digital innovation and responsible consumption. Community and environmental connections are supporting or indirect, and should not be presented as certification or guaranteed impact.

Strongest direct relevance

SDG 9 and SDG 12

Digital receipt infrastructure can modernise post-purchase services while giving businesses and customers a practical alternative to unnecessary receipt printing.

Supporting relevance

SDG 11

Digital receipt choices can support more resource-conscious retail and service experiences within communities.

Indirect environmental relevance

SDG 13 and SDG 15

Reduced paper demand and more efficient processes may support lower-resource practices and awareness of forest-derived resources, without implying fixed carbon or ecosystem outcomes.

Outcomes depend on genuine operational change

Environmental relevance depends on a genuine reduction of parallel paper printing. Creating a digital receipt while continuing to print the same paper receipt does not demonstrate paper reduction, and TerraGridTech does not convert digital receipt counts into fixed carbon, tree, water, land or ecosystem savings.

What we can and cannot report today

Operational reporting

  • Digital receipts created
  • Confirmed paper prints avoided
  • Estimated paper length
  • Equivalent rolls and adoption rate
  • Visible uncertainty and assumptions

Not currently reported

  • Customer-wide environmental totals
  • Trees, water or carbon equivalents
  • Climate-neutral or zero-impact results
  • Unreviewed lifecycle comparisons
  • Sustainability certification

Future measurement plans

Future research may use anonymised, aggregated information only after data quality, permissions, sample thresholds, privacy review and a reproducible methodology are in place. No findings are available today.
